Nicolas Buchon
Cornell University

Dr. Nicolas Buchon of Cornell University is an associate professor in the Department of Entomology. His research focuses on the genetic and cellular mechanisms that maintain tissue homeostasis in response to pathogens. Work in his group integrates multiple aspects of insect-pathogen interactions including the regulation of immune pathways and the microbial signals that modulate them, the differential impact of microbiota and pathogens on host function, and the cross talk between host physiology and infection. Current work in the Buchon lab in the Aedes aegypti and Anopheles gambiae systems has included functional genomics, cell biology, transcriptomics, and ysstems-levels approaches. This work is funded by two NIH R01 grants (R01AI148541-05 and R01AI148529-05). Dr. Buchon has track record in successfully training international students (n=8) and is a current mentor in the T32 postdoctoral training program affiliated with the Cornell Institute of Host-Microbe Interactions and Disease (AI145821).
