Deepshikha Batheja

Dr. Deepshikha Batheja is a Principal Research Scientist at the Max Institute of Healthcare Management, Indian School of Business, and a Visiting Fellow at One Health Trust. Her areas of research include development economics, health economics, and the economics of gender. Specifically, she studies the socio-economic and environmental determinants of health and economic outcomes in developing countries, with a focus on antimicrobial resistance, mental health, and firm productivity. Dr. Batheja uses real-world data and often leverages randomized controlled trials to test economic theory and inform policy. She is a member of the World Health Organization's expert panel on gender and antimicrobial resistance and a programme member of the Just Transitions for AMR working group funded by the British Academy. Her work has been published in leading health and economics journals. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Riverside.
