Dr. Araya Gebresilassie is an educator and researcher specializing in public health entomology. He serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoological Sciences at Addis Ababa University (AAU), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He earned his PhD in Entomology from Addis Ababa University, with a focus on vector-borne disease transmission. His research expertise encompasses the biology, ecology, behavior, distribution, insecticide resistance, seasonality, and control of major insect vectors, particularly mosquitoes and sand flies transmitting human diseases across Ethiopia.
Dr. Araya has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, with over 1,400 citations (per Google Scholar). As an educator, he mentors students and contributes to teaching in entomology and related fields at AAU. He fosters extensive collaborations with Ethiopian institutions and international partners.
